Division of Adult & Continuing Education

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS There are no entry requirements for CSEC students. However, CAPE students are advised to sit the CSEC Principles of Accounts and Mathematics examinations before taking the related CAPE courses.

Note Well
Persons applying to enter the ACE Division must submit the original and a copy of the following documents, along with a printout of their application:
a) original birth certificate or passport or citizenship certificate
b) original CXC/GCE examination certificate(s) or results slip(s) if applicable

APPLICATION PERIOD

The application period for the CSEC and CAPE subject is April 1st to July 31st. To apply, visit the College’s website: cfbc.edu.kn.

All applications submitted after July 31st will attract an additional late fee of $50.00 ECD ($35.00 + $50.00 = $85.00).

REGISTRATION

All students are reqiuired to registered for they subjects on cfbcsonis.jenzabarcloud.com.

CXC – CAPE ASSOCIATE DEGREES
Duration: 3 to 5 academic years

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

ACE students who complete the CAPE programme qualify for graduation. Students are required to pass all internal coursework as well as the CAPE examinations in order to qualify for graduation.

OPTIONS FOR CAPE REGISTRATION

Students may register for a minimum of one CAPE unit. The maximum number of CAPE Units for which a student may be registered is three.

Note Well:
Students may opt to do the CAPE Associate Degree which requires taking 10 units including Caribbean Studies, Communication Studies and Integrated Mathematics.
• Students may opt to do the CAPE Diploma which requires taking 6 units including Caribbean Studies.
• Students also have the option of taking individual CAPE units or double units.

AWARDS OF DEGREES, DIPLOMAS AND CERTIFICATES

In the Division of Adult & Continuing Education, students qualify for CFBC certification as well as CAPE certification.

CFBC DIPLOMA

Students are required to pass all three modules of EACH course taken. A minimum of two 2-Unit courses must be taken in order to qualify for CFBC certification.

CAPE CERTIFICATE

A single Certificate is provided for each examination sitting. Note well: CAPE certification does not qualify students for CFBC graduation.

CAPE DIPLOMA

To qualify for the CAPE Diploma, Six CAPE Units must be successfully completed (with passes at grades I to V), including Caribbean Studies. Units for the CAPE Diploma are typically acquired over a two year period but may be acquired over a maximum period of five years.

CAPE ASSOCIATE DEGREE

To qualify for the CAPE Associate Degree, at least ten units must be successfully completed (with passes at grades I to V), including the General Education (Compulsory) courses—Integrated Mathematics, Communication Studies and Caribbean Studies. Units for the Associate Degree are typically acquired over a three year period but may be acquired over a maximum period of five years.

CXC EXAMINATIONS

Registration for CXC CAPE examinations is scheduled in November.

FEES

ACE students are required to pay the following fees:
• Application (all new students) - $35.00 ECD
• Registration Fee for CAPE - $375.00 ECD for two units per semester
• ID card - $35.00 ECD
• CAPE fee for the third unit - $250.00 ECD per year
